Close to the Pacuare Lodge, on the far bank of the river, there is a small village called Bajo del Tigre; most of our employees come from there. Guided by a naturalist guide , explore the river region and rain forest, and visit the community of Bajo del Tigre, a small hamlet of farmers dedicated to the harvesting of species, roots, and tubercles , among others. You`ll visit the home of a local family and try a typical Costa Rican snack, such as “picadillo”, while seeing how they live. You will then visit the community`s one-room schoolhouse (during weekdays) where one energetic teacher teaches all grades. Following you head back on a trail that winds its way down to the Pacuare Lodge.
